The magnificent Fritillaria 'William Rex' produces a stunning cluster of terracotta-red flowers and vivid green bracts, atop a tall, dark stem. This species of Fritillaria are excellent for bringing height to a Spring border. Also known as the Crown Imperial Lily, it has been in cultivation since the 16th century, since it was introduced from Turkey. It grows naturally on rocky slopes, cliffs and in scrub. It is excellent at attracting pollinators.

This Fritillaria has a very large bulb and should be planted 20cm deep in a wind sheltered area.
