One of our founders, Lulu Urquhart, winner of Chelsea Gold and Best in Show 2022 recently featured in the Financial Times discussing her personal favourite naturalising spring bulbs. With our design-led horticultural expertise, we have made a collection of organic bulbs that will self-propagate and naturalise in your garden.
Most bulbs are very easy to grow and can simply slot into existing schemes, lawns and meadows - an accessible way for both basic gardeners and those seeking complexity to make a small difference to the environment and revel in early to late spring heart-bursters!
Fritillaria meleagris x 50 bulbs Snake's Head Fritillary to grow in grass meadows, lawns and orchards
Tulipa sylvestris x 30 bulbs Controversially bold, the wild tulip, immediately jumps out. A huge delight in lower grass levels, borders, orchards, and shrub or woodland edges, with a sweet lemon scent.
Narcissus Thalia x 50 bulbs A snow white, delicious scented narcissus with elegant pointed petals.
Narcissus poeticus recurvus 'Pheasants Eye' x 35 bulbs Reassuringly late narcissus to bring up the rear. Tall and proud, bright white and pheasant eye centre. A really nice cutting flower that follows Thalia well in grass swards, orchards, along drives and under trees and shrubs.
Camassia leichtlinii 'Caerulea' x 30 bulbs Beautiful blue wild hyacinth, tall candle flowering stems that attract all pollinators in May & June. Plant into moist sunny spots for happiest siting and naturalising conditions. A great solution to heavy, wet or clay soils.
Allium nigrum x 30 bulbs Growing originally in fields or among limestone rocks at 100-200m in Southern Europe and east towards Iran. Known to gardeners since 1762 with beautiful white flowers and dark green centres Allium nigrum performs best in a sunny well-drained soil where a dry summer rest is possible. The domed head can reach up to 12cm across and look majestic floating above shaggy astrantia in wilder areas of the garden. A pollinating favourite for bees and other insects.
